I’m still working on my TARS model/action figure. I will at some point have to stop the putty-sand cycle that could potentially go on forever. Here is TARS with his first primer coat.

So even though I have not completed my own, I thought I’d make the 3D printing kit available to anyone interested. It contains the STL files, decal inserts and instructions to build a 6″ tall TARS robot from the movie Interstellar. This particular model includes an articulated armature. I still do not have accurate dimensions for the movie prop of TARS. So this model is based solely on eyeballing photos and drawings. Once you have printed the model it will most likely need some work such as putty and/or sanding.  The pin holes will probably need to be enlarged or cleaned up slightly. I will be using rare earth magnets for my joints. If you want panel lines, they will need to be scribed or you could use decals.

Please feel free to download and print your own TARS. I ask that you do not upload these files anywhere else. Such as an online file sharing or 3D printing file sharing website. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License

The files are available on the TARS Action Figure Kit download page.

Let me know what you think of the model and please share photos of your TARS if you decide to build this kit.
